Updating would be a good thing...

Wow, it's been awhile! I've been working on a website for my Paranormal stuff, but I may just move it all over to here. Not sure.

Lots has been going on! My daughter and grandbaby moved in with us back in November. I drove to Mississippi to pick them up, on Thanksgiving Day. That was a fun trip! I even got to visit New Orleans for a little while.

I will see what I can do about getting some new photos and news posted here. In the meantime... Smile!

Just playing around, learning PhotoShop... :)

Progress!

Well it was a lot of work, but we DO finally have grass, plants and a pretty new blacktopped drive! My legs are definitely feeling the burn - all that bending over, using a paintbrush to apply sealer to the edges of the driveway while Chap squeegeed the sealer down the middle... ow! It took us about three hours, but the results are worth it. Looks SO much better!

Ch-ch-changes....

So, we are officially at the jumping-off point, for yard renovation (and some small projects inside, as well).

The biggest (and main) project is going to be the front yard. The front yard was Zoysia grass, which is drought-resistant, and doesn't "green up" well. The green you see in the pictures is actually clover!

This is what we did LAST weekend. THIS weekend, we will begin the work of tilling and seeding, watering, and making the flowerbeds. Even if we don't get any plants or flowers planted this year, it will be nice to have the way paved!

We also received a couple of new pieces of furniture (Thank you AGAIN, Debbie! LOL). I girlied-up the bathroom, so it looks like a woman lives in this house.

We are looking forward to the summer! Next project will be painting inside the house. Which leads to the hanging of the new draperies... and then, of course the carpet is going to need re-stretched. Which, while we're at it, we might as well install some tile ... and... well... lots of stuff. ;)

Morels! $35 per LB around here! I got some from a friend and co-worker (THANK YOU DEBBIE!!!!)

I have never done this before, so I am chronicling my progress. Here they are, soaking in water for about 1/2 hour.

You can put a plate over them to hold them under the water, because they float.

I removed them from the initial soak water (and will throw it in a place where MAYBE they will grow next year?) and put them into a colander, which I placed into a bowl of salt water. Another 1/2 hour soak.

Happy Shrooms!

3-4 eggs, salt/pepper, garlic, onion powder... yeah, that ought to work...

Slice them in half, lengthwise...

Give them a quick swish in more water, in case there was any debris in the hollow centers...

I diced some for the omelet, and the rest I'll fry.

Mix the morels into the egg mixture...

Pour into a hot, buttered cast iron skillet... I am using some swiss cheese...

Flip it over when the time feels right. It isn't pretty, but it will taste good... this isn't Food Network...

MMMM, toasty, cheesey, shroomy goodness!

I love how the swiss just oooooozes out...

Here's a kid who knows a good thing when he tastes it!

I didn't really need to ask if he liked it...

His sandwich got the 'Mayo-ed Thumbs UP' award! And he asked for another...

"I'm DEFINITELY going to need more toast..."

The only thing that would make this any more Redneck, would be to use un-toasted bread (WONDER BREAD) and a big ol' slice of tomato.

Sandwich number two...

Now, for phase two...

I dredged them in seasoned flour...

Browned them up in butter...

... let them drain on a paper towel...

Boy, these are HOT...

Chap wasn't sure he wanted to try them, until I mentioned that I might have over-salted them...

THEN he was game... lol. Tomorrow night - we'll do the batter dipped, deep fried version! :D
